Stepparent Success School

I lived this myself and I talk to stepparents every day who are struggling and suffering to love their life in a blended family or stepfamily.

Many people feel like this is something that they should automatically know how to do ... we assume that it's a personal shortcoming when we cannot instantly create a perfect homelife with our stepchildren. The truth in my experience is that there is so little support and education for stepparents that it's impossible to know what you need to know in order to make it work.

Until now.

You're in a relationship with someone who has children from a previous relationship (or perhaps you both have children), but you haven't taken the next step of moving in together, getting married, or having a child together. You're grappling with whether moving forward in the relationship is the right choice.

You've made a commitment, whether by moving in together, buying a house, or recently getting married. Suddenly things feel much tougher than anticipated. You're unsure if you moved too quickly or if there are steps you can take to improve the situation.

Stepparent Success School is also not a program to tell you what you are doing wrong. It's not a specific formula of do this and then that and voila, presto abracadabra you'll be happy.

Stepparent Success School is built on five key ideas.

1. Self-help is the fastest route to change.

2. Happiness is a worthwhile goal and the person who knows what makes you happy ... is you.

3. Happiness comes from creating a situation that you want not assimilating into a situation that works for others.

4. All humans deserve agency over their own decisions.

5. You should not need to become an EXPERT in all things children or FAMILY in order to have a happy home.

I'm a stepparent of over 20+ years. I have two adult stepkids who were young when I met and married their dad. My stepkids still speak to me. I also have two young adult kids.

I want you to succeed. I don't presume that what worked for me is the exact steps that will work for you.

I'm confident I can help you to figure it out...by dialing into what makes you feel secure, delighted and content in your life and then figuring out how you can make that happen for yourself.

I didn't know 25 years ago that in my future I would offer to help other stepparents. But after years of sport coaching when I was taking a life coaching course my mentor asked me who would you really like to help. I thought back to how tough my early days were and how much I wish there had been a person in my corner who would say...you can do this and I'm going to show you how.
